Not many Chinese read books outside. / 中国人はあまり本を読まない。

上海に来てから思うこと。

街中で中国人が本を読んでいるところを全然見ない。彼らはどちらかというといつもスマートフォンを眺めていて、動画を見ているかゲームをしている。

中国人のスマホゲーム率はすごく高くて、年齢性別に関係なくみんな時間があるとしている。

日本ではよくカフェでコーヒーを楽しみながら本を読んでいる人を見かけていたと思う。読んでいる本は小説だったり、ビジネス書だったり、実用書だったり。

私もその内の１人で、本を持ってカフェに１人で行くことが大好き。

春とか秋には本を持って公園に出かけるし、バケーションでビーチに行った時も本を持って行って読むし、そんな時間の過ごし方が好き。でもどこに行って中国人は見かけない。

果たして中国のカフェはというと、１人ではパソコンとにらめっこしているか、教科書開いて勉強をしている学生か、スマホゲームをしている人。あとは２人以上でおしゃべりを楽しんでる。

本屋さんも少なからなんだかちょっと寂しいんだけど、どうなんだろう？中国人は家で本を読んでるのかな？ちょっと気になったのでした。

そんな私の今日の本はThink Simple.これを読むのは３回目？最近忙しすぎて頭が複雑化してる時こそ、この本を読み返す。あともう１冊私がそういう時に開くのがエッセンシャル思考。この２冊は私の愛読書。

I’ve been wondering since I came to Shanghai, I don’t often see Chinese people are reading books outside.

When I look around Shanghai city, there is nobody who is reading books. As my image of Chinese people, they seem like prefer to play games, watching some drama or games on their phone. I’m really surprised that in Shanghai, men and women of all ages play games on their phone here. (Maybe Japan as well but much less than here)

We often see some couple at restaurant have no conversation and play games independently. It’s so silly for me.

in contrast, when I was in Japan, I often see many people are reading books with a cup of coffee at café. What they read are novels, business books, how-to books and so on.

I’m one of big fun of it. I love to bring one book with me to café and spend time there. In spring and fall, I sometimes go to parks to read, and on vacation I enjoy to reading books on beachside (maybe because I cannot swim:/shhhhh!)

So how is café in China? Well…there are people who is working on laptop, studying with textbooks, playing game on phone, and people are enjoying chatting with friends. There are not many book stores either.

By the way, today’s book for lunch time was “Think simple”. This is my 3rd time to read this. Every year during busy term of working, I’m trying to read this and also “Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less”. These two are my favorite books and important for me when I’m thinking tooo complicated sometimes.保存保存保存
